Katya Mora

‘This series of three drawings explores the possibility that a body can generate its own vibrations, emitted from within as subtle lines or dots that gradually manifest themselves in the surrounding space. I imagine this process as creating resonant waves that move back and forth, reshaping the body with every oscillation.

I conceive of drawing as a researching exercise: to investigate as if seeing something for the first time, as if everything presented forms a single unity, as if the hand could sense the subtle vibrations living within the shapes.

Sometimes I explore drawing as if I were breathing, observing how the body or the entire form becomes a mass that expands and contracts, thereby acquiring its own tension, rhythm, and breath. Like a monster, in the etymological sense of the word: something divine—or not—that seeks to reveal itself to us.’
