Call for Submissions
Issue #2
Artists’ Drawings is now accepting submissions for its second issue. The magazine publishes drawings made by artists, with a focus on how drawing can be used to develop and articulate ideas. It considers ‘the artist’ to be anyone who engages in a creative pursuit and follows a broad interpretation of drawing and drawings, holding an equal interest in objects made as part of a process and as outcomes in themselves. Led by images and intentions, it combines drawings made today with others from the near and distant past.
Visual Submissions
There is no set theme for the second issue. Those interested in making a submission are encouraged to think expansively about what the act and outcome of drawing means to them and their work. Alongside drawings that are considered works in their own right, submissions might include exploratory sketches, studies, diagrams or instructions.
Text Submissions
New for this issue, Artists’ Drawings invites submissions of short texts from artists, writers, and anyone else with an interest in drawing. Text submissions might discuss a single drawing or a series of drawings (either made by the author or by another artist), drawing practices, or broader social or political issues related to drawing and graphic representations. Text submissions might also take the form of reviews or responses to recent exhibitions (2025/2026) that are dedicated to drawing or in which drawings are a significant element.
Selected visual and text submissions will be published in print in Summer 2026.
Deadline for submissions: 5PM (BST) on Wednesday 29 April 2026
